Level 2 Certificate in Accounting
Your accounting journey starts with the foundational Level 2 Certificate in Accounting, needed to progress to employment or further study in accountancy and finance. Students should choose the Level 2 Certificate in Accounting if they’re interested in developing transferable business and personal skills alongside their core accountancy skills.
This qualification comprises four mandatory units:
- Introduction to Bookkeeping
- Principles of Bookkeeping Controls
- Principles of Costing
- The Business Environment
Working in accountancy requires good communication skills, IT skills and an understanding of the business environment, as well as an understanding of daily finance and accounting functions.
AAT does not set any entry requirements for this qualification. However, for the best chance of success, we recommend that students begin their studies with a good standard of English and Maths.
This qualification will take approximately 9 to12 months to complete with 255 guided learning hours.
Level 3 Diploma in Accounting
Progress to specialist understanding with the Level 3 Diploma in Accounting, ideal for those seeking finance roles or further education in accounting and finance who have achieved the Level 2 Certificate in Accounting.
On completion, students can successfully undertake a role in finance. it can also be a stepping stone to further education, with students progressing onto the Level 4 Diploma in Professional Accounting.
This qualification comprises four mandatory units
- Business Awareness
- Financial Accounting: Preparing Financial Statements
- Management Accounting Techniques
- Tax Processes for Businesses
AAT does not set any entry requirements for this qualification. However, for the best chance of success, we recommend that students begin their studies with a good standard of English and Maths.
The qualification will take approx. 9 to12 months to complete with 400 guided learning hours.
Level 4 Diploma in Professional Accounting
Master advanced accounting and finance skills with the Level 4 Diploma in Professional Accounting, including focus areas such as business tax and financial management.
Students will look at and become comfortable with a wide range of financial management skills and applications and will gain competencies in drafting financial statements for limited companies, recommending accounting systems strategies and constructing and presenting complex management accounting reports.
Students will also learn about specialist areas such as tax, auditing, credit and debit management and cash and financial management.
This qualification comprises three mandatory units and two specialist units selected from a choice of five options.
The mandatory units are:
- Applied Management accounting
- Drafting and interpreting Financial Statements
- Internal Accounting Systems and Controls
The optional units are:
- Business tax
- Personal tax
- Audit and Assurance
- Cash and Financial Management
- Credit and Debt Management
This qualification will take approx. 9-12 months to complete.
