From 1st April 2025 (unaccompanied freight) and 1st September 2025 (accompanied freight), hauliers transporting goods into the EU by rail, road, or sea must comply with the Import Control System 2 (ICS2) regulations or risk shipment delays.
Key Changes & Requirements
Under ICS2, hauliers must submit additional security data via the Entry Summary Declaration (ENS) before arrival at the border. Failure to provide complete and accurate information may result in severe delays or refusal of entry.
What Additional Data Must Be Submitted?
- A 6-digit HS Commodity Code (previously only 4 digits)
- EU EORI Number of the Buyer (required for accompanied freight)
- Countries of Routing (list of transit countries before reaching the EU)
Incomplete or incorrect ENS data may lead to cargo being refused entry!
Why This Matters
- Mandatory Safety & Security Declarations for all consignments entering or transiting through the EU
- Avoid Delays & Border Disruptions by ensuring compliance with ICS2
- Prepare Now to ensure seamless transportation and customs clearance
