East Lancashire Chamber of Commerce’s International Business Department were delighted to host another successful International Trade Club Breakfast event on Thursday 13th July 2023, held once again at Accrington Stanley Football Club.
Attendees heard informative presentations from John Baines, Digital Trade Advisor of Department for Business and Trade (DBT) on how the DBTS digital support service can help businesses reach their overseas export potential by working with them on their digital trade strategies and online presence to increase international sales and business scale in new and existing overseas markets.
They also heard from Daniel Fletcher of event sponsors Forbes Solicitors, who provided a satellite overview of the numerous commercial and intellectual property considerations that are associated with operating an online business, as well as the challenges that they face.
Andy Kirkaldy of event sponsors PM+M also gave a review of the VAT considerations for B2C online trading with Europe, giving an insight on the EUs proposals for VAT in the digital age.
Finally, Dan Giannasi, Head of Cyber & Innovation at the Cyber Resilience Centre discussed the biggest threats and the latest scams cyber criminals use against businesses, and also explained how the Cyber Resilience Centre can support businesses to protect themselves against attacks through membership and cyber security services.
