Successful wellbeing and employment event supports Rossendale residents
Rossendale Works, an employment support project created by Rossendale Borough Council and Active Lancashire, welcomed around140 residents to a dedicated Wellbeing and Employment Event focused on improving wellbeing, expanding access to employment and training opportunities, and strengthening collaboration across community partners in the Valley.
Held on Thursday 23rd April 2026, the event brought together 25 community, voluntary, and support organisations to showcase the wide range of local services available to residents who are currently not in employment, education, or training.
The engagement was a success, with 20 individuals signing up to the Rossendale Works programme on the day, highlighting the immediate impact of the initiative.
Project Lead for Rossendale Works, Paul Becouarn, highlighted the event’s success:
“It’s been fantastic to see so many partners come together with a shared focus on supporting Rossendale residents. Many of these organisations don’t normally work in the same space, so bringing them together has created real energy and momentum.”
“This level of collaboration has been made possible through strong communication and coordinated working led by the Rossendale Works team. It demonstrates what can be achieved when services align around a common purpose, and it reflects a joined-up approach to improving opportunities, wellbeing, and employment outcomes across the community.”
Feedback from participating organisations was overwhelmingly positive, with many partners expressing enthusiasm for future events. Several highlighted the value of cross-sector collaboration and the opportunity to work alongside organisations they do not typically engage with. This strengthened partnership approach enabled a more cohesive offer for residents and further reinforced local service networks.
The initiative aligns closely with wider Valley priorities, supporting ambitions to improve employment outcomes, strengthen the local economy, and enhance community wellbeing. As a programme supported by Rossendale Borough Council, the event contributes to the borough’s long-term growth by linking residents to job opportunities and connecting them with employers and support services.
Rossendale Works will continue to play a central role in bringing partners together, supporting residents into employment, and fostering a more connected and resilient community across the Valley.
