New grant funding announced to support Haslingden businesses following Deardengate transformation
Rossendale Borough Council has announced new grant funding to support independent businesses in Haslingden town centre following the completion of major public realm works on Deardengate and surrounding streets.
The funding is aimed specifically at businesses located on Deardengate, Manchester Road and Blackburn Road, helping them reconnect with the transformed town centre and benefit from increased footfall linked to the new town centre square.
Eligible businesses can apply for:
- Capital grants of up to £4,000 for items such as signage, window display fittings, café seating and awnings.
- Revenue grants of up to £2,000 to support activity such as marketing, event delivery, additional staffing or training.
Charities and not-for-profit organisations are eligible for capital funding only. Completed applications must be submitted by Saturday 30th May 2026.
Cllr Nick Harris, Portfolio Holder for Regeneration, said:
“The transformation of Haslingden has always been about creating a town centre that works for everyone. We recognise that the improvement works along Deardengate were challenging for many traders and took longer than anyone wanted or expected.”
“This funding acknowledges that impact and is about backing our local businesses as footfall returns and the benefits of the Council’s significant investment in Haslingden begins to be felt. The improvements now in place create new opportunities to attract visitors, support local trade, and strengthen connections with the Big Lamp town square and the wider market area, supporting Haslingden’s 2040 Vision.”
The Deardengate and Big Lamp project forms part of a £2.5million National Lottery Heritage Fund-supported investment aimed at creating a safer, greener and more welcoming town centre.
Further information, including eligibility criteria and application forms, is available on the Rossendale Borough Council website.
