Running for a reason: Emily Shaw from James Alpe Ltd takes on the London Marathon

We’re proud to share that Emily Shaw from our Conversions Department at James Alpe Ltd will be taking on the TCS London Marathon on 26th April in support of the Stroke Association.

Over the past few months, Emily has put in hours of gruelling training to prepare for this moment. Having only previously completed a half marathon, stepping up to the full 26.2 miles will be an incredible challenge, one she’s taking on with determination and purpose.

Emily, daughter of our Managing Director Lee Shaw, made the difficult decision to give up her place in the Manchester Marathon to accept this opportunity, a choice driven by something deeply personal. She’s running in honour of her grandad, who suffered a stroke in 2022.

His stroke took away his speech, movement, and independence. But thanks to the incredible care and support he received, including speech therapy, physiotherapy, and round-the-clock care – he made a remarkable recovery. Today, he’s regained his independence, something Emily will always be grateful for.

Running London is Emily’s way of giving back to the charity that helped her grandad get his life back.

Emily is still working towards her fundraising target ahead of race day, so if you can support her in any way, whether that’s a donation or simply sharing her story it would mean a great deal.

Let’s get behind Emily and help her make every mile count ❤️
