East Lancashire Hospice is opening the doors to its brand-new Bereavement Support Café, offering a warm and welcoming space for anyone who has experienced the loss of a loved one.
The Bereavement Café, located at Café Retreat within East Lancashire Hospice, will run on the first and third Mondays of every month from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm, starting on Monday, 6 October 2025.
Created to support those coping with grief, which can often feel overwhelming, isolating, and all-consuming, the Bereavement Support Café provides a safe and informal environment where people can come together, share experiences, and find comfort among others who truly understand what they are going through.
Whether visitors wish to talk, listen, or simply sit quietly with others, the café is open to all. There is no need to book; people are welcome to attend whenever they feel ready and can also bring a friend for support.
Lucy Fish, Family Support Therapist at East Lancashire Hospice, said:
“We know that grief can be isolating and lonely. Many people find great comfort in being with others with a shared experience, and our Bereavement Support Café is here to offer compassion, support, and a safe space.”
