A group of accountants from Lancaster swapped their calculators for courage and completed a Pretty Muddy challenge – raising more than £800 for Cancer Research.

The competitors work for the Lancaster branch of the UK top 10 accountancy and advisory firm Azets.

The 5K race took part at Preston’s Avenham Park where hundreds of competitors took on the wet and muddy obstacle course.

Azets’ Office Managing Partner Jenny Pape, who cheered on the runners, said: “It was an excellent event with so many people enjoying themselves, having fun and raising money for Cancer Research.

“Our team stuck together the whole way round, helping each other and finishing at the same time.

“They loved it so much we are already planning to enter more runners next year so we can raise even more money for what is a superb cause.”

Pretty Muddy challenges take place across the country and are organised by Cancer Research.

The 5K races involve competitors having to clamber, climb, crawl and slide over obstacles on a wet and muddy course.

The day in Preston, which include a kids’ race and also a Race for Life event at Miller Park, saw almost 2,500 competitors take part and raise north of £200,000.
