Lancashire Charity Praised In Report

An Ofsted report published today (13th April) highlights the professionalism and quality of charity Community CVS’s Accredited Training Centre. It provides free business training courses – ‘Skills Bootcamps’ – for organisations and individuals across the Lancashire area.

As well as special praise for inclusion, the report highlights the achievements of people on the courses who go on to new employment, get promotions or additional responsibilities in their current workplace, or even start their own new businesses. The report also talked of the follow-up activities CVS provides, with support for participants and the development of relationships with local business employers across a wide range of sectors.

There are 10 sessions delivered on a one day a week (9.30-3.00) face-to-face basis at CVS’s base in central Blackburn. They are run by a team of highly experienced trainers with strong practical business and educational backgrounds and top leadership, enterprise, marketing and accountancy skills to cover the complete range of business-related issues.

Said Community CVS CEO Garth Hodgkinson:

“This is our first full Ofsted assessment, and we’re delighted with the outcome and the feedback we have received. We hope to be able to continue to offer these innovative free courses to eligible participants, which are largely funded by Lancashire County Council and would otherwise cost up to £5,000.”

Of Course participants, the Ofsted report observed “They gain substantial leadership and business knowledge skills … motivated and enthusiastic, they enjoy their learning and value the inclusive and welcoming environment.”

Chris Trickett, Director of Business and Skills at CVS and a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute and the Institute of Consulting added:

“Our three ‘strong’ ratings in the report shows how the Bootcamps courses are really helping people and organisations achieve their potential. There are two upcoming courses – in Creative Leadership and Business Fundamentals – starting at the end of this month and there are still a few places available so individuals and organisations can apply now.”
