Burnley FC in the Community Launches the ‘Marc Edwards Legacy Project’ to Inspire and Support Young People

Burnley FC in the Community is proud to announce the launch of the ‘Marc Edwards Legacy Project’, a new initiative created in partnership with the Edwards family and Andor Management Limited (AML), honouring the life and values of Marc Edwards – a founding member of AML and a lifelong Burnley supporter whose commitment to people, progress, and community shaped everything he did.

The Marc Edwards Legacy Project will amplify and enhance the impact of Burnley FC in the Community’s work, supporting disengaged young people across Burnley and Pendle. Through a series of bespoke experiences, mentoring opportunities, and personal development activities, the project will help young people build confidence, develop new skills, and raise aspirations.

A legacy built on belief in people

Marc Edwards was known for his unwavering positivity and his instinctive ability to invest in people at every level. His influence continues to shape AML today, and the creation of this project ensures that his commitment to helping others will continue to inspire future generations.

“Marc was someone who only looked forward in the most positive way, always willing to invest in people,” Terry Elrick, Managing Director at AML and best friend said. “The opportunity to continue supporting young people in his name will give his family and all at AML great pleasure.”

A family story rooted in Burnley

Marc’s children, Cameron and Freya, shared a heartfelt message about their father’s connection to Burnley and why this project means so much to them:

“Burnley has always been a constant in our family. From Mum and Dad’s stories of travelling the country for away games, to Cameron’s first match at six months old, and even walking out as mascots together in 2016 – Burnley is part of who we are.

Our Dad’s commitment to Burnley was known by everyone around him. In 2009, when Burnley reached the play‑off final at Wembley, we had just arrived in the south of France for a family holiday.

In true Marc fashion, he simply turned around and drove all the way back so he wouldn’t miss the match. The same unwavering commitment and dedication to Burnley was shown within all aspects of Dads life.

If he wanted something, he went and did it. Whether for his family, his friends, his colleagues, or the next generation he believed in so deeply, he gave everything he had to achieve it.”

Programme activity

The Marc Edwards Legacy Project will run throughout 2026, supporting young people through a series of structured events and opportunities, which will give young people the chance to develop teamwork, leadership, resilience, and ambition – all qualities Marc embodied.

Supporting young people

The programme will support work with disengaged young people aged 11–25, helping them overcome challenges, re‑engage with education, and build brighter futures. The Marc Edwards Legacy Project will provide:

  • Funding for additional mentoring and support
  • Personal development opportunities
  • New pathways for qualifications
  • Unforgettable experiences at Turf Moor and Whitehough
  • Celebrating young people’s achievements in the community
Honouring a true Claret

Helen Gurman, CEO of Burnley FC in the Community said,

“We are honoured to work with the Edwards family and AML to launch the Marc Edwards Legacy Project. Marc’s values – belief in people, commitment to community, and a passion for Burnley – align perfectly with our mission. This project will significantly strengthen our work, and help more young people realise their potential.”

Marc’s lifelong passion for Burnley FC – passed down through generations of his family – makes Turf Moor the perfect home for this legacy. His belief in people, his drive to help others succeed, and his commitment to the next generation will now live on through every young person supported by this project.
