International Chamber of Commerce Certificate of Origin Verification Platform

In a bold move to address the increasing concerns surrounding global trade fraud, the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) has introduced a ground-breaking verification system designed to ensure the authenticity of export documentation.

Leveraging advanced technologies and international cooperation to verify all critical trade documents are authentic, reducing the risks of fraud and ensuring smoother cross-border transactions.

The ICC’s new verification system is designed to provide a comprehensive solution to document authenticity, addressing a wide range of paperwork commonly used in international trade.  These include:

  • Certificates of Origin
  • Preferential Origin Statements
  • Authenticated Commercial Invoices

The system allows businesses and customs authorities to verify export documentation in real time.  Using a secure digital platform, companies can submit documents for verification, which are then cross-checked against a global database of legitimate certifications and records.

The introduction of the ICC’s verification system offers numerous benefits for businesses engaged in international trade.

  • Increased trust and transparency: By guaranteeing the authenticity of export documentation. The system will help build trust among trading partners, reducing the risks of disputes and fraud.
  • Reduced risk of financial losses: Fraudulent documents can lead to significant financial losses, particularly when undetected by businesses or customs authorities. The system aims to minimise these risks by offering real-time verification, protecting businesses from financial exposure.
  • Improved regulatory compliance: The verification system helps ensure all export documents comply with international regulations and standards, reducing the risk of penalties and facilitating smoother cross-border trade.
