Burnley FC in the Community took a giant leap into the future on Friday, 11th April, unveiling The STEM Den—a thrilling, tech-powered classroom experience launched in partnership with Gener8.

Revealed on Community Day, during Burnley FC’s home clash with Norwich City at the Fan Zone, this cutting-edge immersive space marks a dynamic new chapter in the charity’s mission to inspire learning through innovation, sport, and community impact.

As part of the ongoing All SySTEMS Go STEM project, The STEM Den is designed to merge the thrill of sport with the wonder of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Featuring fully interactive touch technology, this mobile digital learning space provides unforgettable, hands-on experiences for learners of all ages.

Throughout the launch event, fans explored a range of Burnley FC-themed activities, from “Guess the Player” and kit history games, to virtual penalty shootouts. The space is tailored to ignite curiosity and foster core skills in a fun, engaging environment—perfect for children, families, and lifelong Clarets fans alike.

Speaking about the new addition, Helen Gurman, CEO of Burnley FC in the Community, said:

“We can’t put into words how grateful we are for this contribution. The STEM Den will revolutionise our STEM programme and amplify the impact we already make.”

STEM Co-ordinator Rachel Beck added:

“Entering the Den can transport you anywhere in the world—under the sea, to another country, or to the centre of the pitch at Turf Moor. For children who may have never left Burnley, this technology offers a life-changing opportunity to explore the world with just a click.”

Graham Chadwick, Director at Gener8, shared his excitement:

“Our special interactive digital spaces create unique environments that allow users to build exciting, stimulating learning experiences. We look forward to a creative and impactful partnership with Burnley FC in the Community.”

The STEM Den will soon move to its permanent home at The Leisure Box, where it will support a wide range of programmes—from engaging local primary school students, to supporting participants affected by dementia, helping sports students analyse performance data, and even providing a safe, inclusive space for those with special educational needs. The opportunities are truly endless.

Burnley FC in the Community would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Gener8 for their generous support, as well as to the media and operations staff at Burnley FC, CFH Design, and Lancashire Archives for their contributions to the classroom’s content.

Come and experience The STEM Den for yourself—and get ready to play, learn, and be inspired. Launching mid-May at The Leisure Box. Stay tuned for more details!
