Marching in aid of Mental Health awareness is the DES Group, a facilities management company based in Blackburn, who provide solutions across several sectors.
Each year during March, employees are encouraged to take an extra half-hour on top of their lunch break, with the aim of opening up conversations between colleagues about non-work related topics. This helps to form relationships across different departments and encourages more open and honest conversations.
This year, the DES group have decided to support East Lancashire Hospice and raise money for the charity while taking part in their March for Mental Health initiative. Employees are encouraged to make a small donation throughout the month while completing their lunchtime walks.
The company CEO Barry Gavahan explained:
“I spoke to my friend Mark Johnson who works at Fogartys Insurance and was impressed by the services offered at the hospice, I later discovered their 60 Miles in March event and thought they would be a great charity to support”.
Last year the DES Group employees raised an amazing £400 for their chosen charity, with the company matching this contribution. If you would like to support their fundraising efforts, please donate here.
