The General Product Safety Regulations 2024

It’s here. It’s in force.

The EU has introduced the General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) which replaces the General Product Safety Directive, ushering in a new era of increased protection for EU consumers. It is now important for British manufacturers, distributors and retailers who place product onto the EU market to review their products in line with GPSR, as the regulation now encompasses a wider range of products including those sold online, new, used, repaired or reconditioned.

Incredible Support and Advice for British Companies

Here in the region the East Lancashire Chamber of Commerce is going one step further to identify the specific changes for Manufacturers, Distributors and Retailers and providing specialist support for local companies to remain compliant with EU market regulation.

Firstly, our Compliance Specialist Partner is headline speaker at the International Trade Club breakfast meeting on 15 May 2025 at the Mercure Dunkenhalgh Hotel who will provide a timely update on GPSR and will be answering questions from some of the region’s largest exporters – in person. This will include the key change to appoint an Authorised Representative, intended to serve as a contact point for EU market surveillance authorities in case of product issues, which British exporters are now having to consider and where appropriate, implement.

Thereafter, our Compliance Team Partners will be on hand to support you with understanding the best route for your business to keep your products safe, compliant and market-ready for sale in the EU.
