John Wyche, a long-term supporter of East Lancashire Hospice, has raised over £900 with his most recent Botanical Garden event, where he welcomed the public into his home to visit his garden and view the exotic plants.
Guessing how many plants were in his conservatory was just one way people could get involved on the day, he also had signed Rover’s memorabilia available for people to purchase and ran a tombola.
Over the years, John has found creative ways to raise for the hospice, including getting merchandise signed by celebrities and famous footballers, to be used as prizes for raffles, events and the annual hospice ball.
John was first inspired to start fundraising for East Lancashire Hospice when his wife died at the Hospice three years ago.
He explained:
“It’s always been on my mind to try and give back to the hospice, following my wife’s care.”
John’s wife Gean spent two days in the In-Patient Unit. He continued:
“The standard of care provided by East Lancashire Hospice is second to none and all the staff are incredibly understanding.”
He went on to explain how the staff at Cafe Retreat were incredibly caring and to this day he often visits to enjoy the ‘top-class food’ they offer.
John is a great advocate for the services provided at East Lancashire Hospice, describing how appreciative he is to be receiving sessions from Counsellor Lucy.
John urges individuals to raise money for East Lancashire Hospice as “it’s fun to see how much you can raise, you’ve just got to put your mind to it”.
