Community CVS is pleased to announce the appointment of its Chief Executive, Garth Hodgkinson, as a Trustee on the Board of the National Association for Voluntary and Community Action (NAVCA). This milestone highlights Blackburn with Darwen’s growing prominence in the voluntary, community, faith, and social enterprise (VCFSE) sector.

NAVCA is the national membership body supporting local infrastructure organisations in England. It focuses on strengthening the voluntary and community sector by ensuring high-quality local support services.

Garth’s leadership at Community CVS has been instrumental in advancing opportunities for local charities, voluntary groups, and social enterprises. During his tenure, he has secured vital funding, championed large-scale development projects, and prioritised collaboration across the sector. His work with the BwD Community Network has brought organisations together to tackle six key priorities for local improvement.

Garth Hodgkinson commented:

“Joining NAVCA’s board at this time is a privilege. Voluntary action and community support are the backbone of strong societies. I am committed to ensuring that local needs and perspectives influence national priorities, helping to build thriving and sustainable communities across the UK.”

Chris Trickett, Business Director at Community CVS, said:

“Garth’s appointment reflects the strength and achievements of Blackburn with Darwen’s VCFSE sector. It demonstrates how local organisations can influence and shape national developments in the voluntary sector.”

This appointment is a natural progression of Community CVS’s efforts to create opportunities, strengthen local infrastructure, and encourage collaboration across Lancashire.
