East Lancashire Hospice invites the local community to support its Christmas appeal, celebrating 40 years of providing care and support to patients and their families across Blackburn, Darwen, Hyndburn, and the Ribble Valley.

The appeal encourages supporters to make a donation in honour of the hospice’s 40th year, ensuring they can continue to provide their vital services for another 40 years.

Each year, East Lancashire Hospice has to raise over £4 million to continue to provide its vital services free of charge, to those living with life-limiting illnesses.
By donating £40 this Christmas, you could provide any of the following sessions to patients at East Lancashire Hospice; relaxing Complementary Therapy, Creative and Support Therapies, essential Counselling, or night stays with a Hospice at Home Healthcare Assistant. Your donation could also provide Physiotherapy sessions to patients, or help families with essential Bereavement support. £40 also contributes towards supporting the hospice’s Community Nurse Specialists in providing specialist palliative care to patients in the community.

Each day, it costs more than £8,000 to run the hospice’s 10-bedroom Inpatient Unit – and the charity is asking the local community to help with essential running costs during the festive season. If 20 people donate £40 each, it will cover the cost of one patient’s specialised palliative care for an entire day on the Inpatient Unit.

East Lancashire Hospice has been counting down the twelve days of Christmas, sharing their festive appeal on social media. Each day highlights the hospice’s vital services and the profound impact they have on patients and the community. Follow them on social media to watch each of the videos!
