PM+M – the chartered accountancy, business advisory and financial planning group, is staging a free Court of Protection event in Blackburn on Wednesday 14th June for legal professionals.

The firm will welcome Ruth Hughes, who is one of the UK’s leading barristers, as the keynote speaker. Ruth works at 5 Stone Buildings in London and is a highly regarded specialist in Court of Protection, trust and estate disputes and contentious tax matters. During her career, she has appeared and cross-examined in numerous highly complex and valuable cases.

During the seminar, Ruth will discuss tax motivated gifting in the Court of Protection, including tips for a successful and efficient application; case law on tax motivated giving; and the important role the official solicitor plays in the procedure.

PM+M’s own team of financial planning experts will briefly cover how a financial adviser can support the Court of Protection services offered by law firms, including helping to overcome any unexpected hurdles and making the process smoother and more efficient.

James McIntyre – partner in PM+M’s financial planning team – said:

“We are delighted to be welcoming Ruth to Blackburn for this unique event. She is one of the country’s most respected barristers in the Court of Protection field and will, I’m sure, provide valuable insights that guests can take away and implement in their own organisations.”

Ruth added:

“I am really looking forward to coming to Blackburn for this event. It will be fantastic to share my knowledge with the Lancashire legal community.”
