Chamber Health and Safety Forum is attended by nominated Health and Safety personnel from businesses across Lancashire and proudly sponsored by Nelson & Colne College Group.
Delivered three times per year, these sessions are designed to provide a network for continuous improvement, professional development and sharing of knowledge within the field of Health and Safety.
At this next event we’ll hear from Sarah Haworth from Nelson & Colne College Group, who will provide an overview of the free Wellbeing in the Workplace offer they can provide, along with case studies from organisations they have worked with, demonstrating the impact that wellbeing can have on staff and the organisation as a whole. They will also be demonstrating a short wellbeing activity that you will be able to participate in.
Plus we’ll receive an update from Active Lancashire about the Business Health Matters programme, which has been developed to support local businesses in improving the physical and mental health of their employees so that staff are happier, healthier and more resilient.
The Active Lancashire led initiative is supported by a range of partners including UCLan, Lancashire Mind, UKactive, Lancashire Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP), Chambers of Commerce, Sport England and Lancashire County Council.
By delivering training, health screenings and supportive interventions in workplaces, through a network of local authorities and leisure trust staff, employees are empowered to improve their overall health whilst employers benefit from increased productivity within their workforces.
Beer, Brews & Mental Health
Also joining us will be Dave Scholes, founder of Mindsight. In September 2011, Dave’s best mate took his own life:
“I struggled with guilt for many years and as a result hid from my true feelings for a long time. It wasn’t easy, but with support I started to talk more openly about how I was really doing.”
Now Dave puts his heart and soul into helping people to start the conversations that helped him. Flipping the Focus on Mental Health: this is a culture change, the Lancashire way. REAL conversations, in normal places like the pub or at the footy, with proper connection. Head education and heart engagement.
From personal experience, with time and the right help, everyone can learn more about managing their own mental health, what expert advice is available and what genuinely supporting others looks like. We all have a story. Yours matters. This is his ….
