Construction Connections

Event Details

This popular network was launched in 2015 and is aimed specifically at the Property and Construction sectors and is proudly sponsored by Nelson & Colne College Group.

Construction Connections is designed to provide Lancashire based property and construction businesses with access to information, opportunities and best practice insights as well as providing a forum to meet with peers within the industry. An optional (and highly recommended) tour of Burnley College’s construction training facility is available at the end of the session.

Joining us this time we have James Eagar from Eric Wright Group, Matthew Jones from Forbes Solicitors, Dave Scholes from Mindsight Connect and Dave Lord from Burnley College.  We’ll also hear a few words from our sponsor.

James Eager, Director at Eric Wright Group

James will discuss what Eric Wright Group are doing to address net carbon zero and how they are handling the skills gap in the industry. He will also discuss the opportunities they have to work in partnership in Burnley and their commitment to support local contractors and utilise local labour.

Lifecycle of a Development with Matthew Jones

Partner in Commercial Property at Forbes Solicitors, Matthew Jones will cover the lifecycle of a property development including:

  • Site Identification and Acquisition – a developer identifying a site they would like to purchase within their budget/ideal location within the Local General Development Plan, undertaking site searches and investigations, considering planning conditions, negotiating agreements and then acquiring the land;
  • Legal Title Investigation – should you grant leasehold or freehold?
  • Legal site set up – the preparation of a contract, information sheets, identification of potential communal land and possible service charge costs;
  • Plot Disposals – the marketing and selling of the properties.

A Real Conversation Starter with Dave Scholes

Six Connections is about real, HEALTHY conversations. In the pub or on the sofa. We know it can be tricky to talk about how we’re doing BUT it’s easier with a brew or a beer. We’ve created some conversational products to help get those conversations going. With a QR code on each, linking to our site of support it’s a simple way to show a mate you care and start looking out for each other. #PoweredByMates

Construction at Burnley College: Look To The Future with Dave Lord

Head of Construction & Built Environment at Burnley College, Dave will provide a brief overview of the Division of Construction at the college, outlining their support for the local construction sector and supply chain. They will be sharing their plans for the delivery of new T-Levels in Construction, Building Services and Design, whilst highlighting their aim to build on and develop new relationships across our region.

Unlike many networks Construction Connections is a closed group and focuses on the needs of Property and Construction businesses only. Non-members from within the sector are welcome to attend.
