The Marketing Mix was created following demand from the region’s professional marketers and their need for a forum to meet, share best practice and invest in their careers through continuous learning.
At this next event, which will be delivered online, we’ll be joined by guest speakers Matthew Briggs, Senior Lecturer and Course Leader for Digital Marketing Degree Apprenticeships at UCLan’s Burnley and Preston campuses and Patrick Cutliffe, Director of BuzzStart Academy.
According to a recently published study by the Chartered Institute of Marketing, there is ‘an alarming lack of training for people in the middle of their careers’. Matthew Briggs will discuss The Importance of Developing Employee Skills, providing a focus on the current situation and training development needs for workforces in our increasingly digital climate. His presentation will include a case study on Burnley based video production company BellyFlop TV.
“If your most recent professional learning was more than 18 months ago, then your knowledge is out of date.” Chartered Institute of Marketing
Made possible by East Lancashire Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Blackburn Youth Zone, The Marketing Mix is a group for client and agency-based marketing professionals across East Lancashire to access support and education about the latest news, opportunity and statistics from the industry.
This event is free to attend and non-members from within the sector are also invited.

About this Event
We welcome Kate Gilmartin from the Local Energy Northwest Hub, delivering The Rural Community Energy Fund in partnership with Lancashire County Council.
Moving towards Zero Carbon Lancashire: What action can communities take towards becoming net zero? A review of community low carbon projects supported by the Rural Community Energy Fund.
Community level action is key for the UK to meet the net-zero target and many communities have already started to work together to take local action. Communities are working with local businesses, land owners and other stakeholders to initiate and develop community owned, low carbon assets, which bring both carbon savings and community benefit.
The Rural community Energy Fund is a grant enabling communities to take on the challenge of decarbonisation, leveraging investment and delivering key projects. The presentation will give details about the fund, community finance, case studies and the project pipeline.
