The event began by welcoming new International Trade Club member: Navigator Tissue UK Ltd, attending Craig Rothwell & Mo Ghazi
First to present from the AIC | Agricultural Industries Confederation who unpicked the forthcoming deforestation regulations in the EU and UK and how the need for compliance will influence and reshape UK businesses.
Next, we heard from the Chamber’s city-based Guru, who provided an overview of international trade trends for both the UK and its principal trading partners, as well as exploring how patterns have been evolving within the UK government.
Finally, the Department of Business and Trade discussed the landmark Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) agreement which is designed to create a more open, inclusive and sustainable trade environment, across the Pacific region.
There was also an update from Mandy Lockett, International Business Director regarding regime 42 and this will be followed up in more detail at a future meeting.
The morning was a delight, starting with a healthy breakfast, plenty of coffee, and engaging conversations with fascinating individuals. The event was a truly rewarding experience, highlighting the importance of international compliance, regulations and how significant the new UK CPTPP trade agreement with Japan, Singapore, Chile, New Zealand, Vietnam, Peru, Malaysia, Brunei and Australia can be for British Companies.
The discussions at the International Trade Club, led by East Lancashire Chamber of Commerce and proudly sponsored by Forbes Solicitors and PM+M Solutions for Business LLP have emphasised these crucial aspects.
