HMRC is issuing a reminder to exporters about the upcoming removal of the 999L Export Measures waiver code.

The 999L code, which has been a temporary measure to help exporters claim waivers during the transition from the CHIEF to the CDS system, will be removed on 31st January 2025.

From 1st February 2025, 999L will no longer be valid. Using this code on export declarations for goods exported after the 31st January will result in the declaration being rejected on CDS, including any pre-lodged exports that “arrive” after 31st January.

Alongside 999L, Y999 – a similar document code – will also be removed from most tariff measures.

What should you do?
  • Ensure you’re prepared: Update your processes to ensure you are using the correct document code after 1st February 2025.
  • Check the UK Integrated Online Tariff for the updated codes and measures.
