Local charity Community Solutions Northwest have announced the launch of a new support project after being inspired by their dedicated volunteers, who recently won a Queens Award for Voluntary Service.
Support Now, is the latest initiative from Community Solutions and will support local residents who may be facing illness, or who have ongoing health needs, to access local services and agencies to help them back on their feet or to live more comfortably.
The initiative will support people to live healthier, better lives through agency liaison between services such as the NHS, GP’s, care agencies and support services such as Homewise to ensure people benefit from a holistic approach, tailored to their individual needs.
In partnership with Homewise, funding from the Rank Foundation, and donations from the Cardboard Box Company and Asda Accrington. Support Now also offers a home from hospital food parcel to help people settle back into their home.
Katrina Leigh, Social Care Manager at Community Solutions said:
“Our Support Now service can help people in a number of ways. From advocacy services to more practical support such as home adaptations and arranging home visits, we aim to help those alone live more comfortably and give them the tools they need to cope with their conditions.
“It has made a huge impact on the people that we have been able to help already, and we know that it will continue to help many more in future”
Support Now follows on from the Visit Me campaign, launched in 2019 by the charity – a visiting service which supports those who may be in hospital, care homes or recently bereaved and who may be facing it alone. The project normally offers a bedside or home visit, along with an essentials pack containing welfare items and small treats.
