Equine charity HAPPA (Horses and Ponies Protection Association) is appealing to members of the public to get involved with a special fundraising activity this autumn and Sleepout to Help Rescued Horses.
Taking place at the charity’s venue Shores Hey Farm, Burnley, Lancashire, BB10 3QU, on Friday 23rd September, the Sleepout gives you the chance to get together with friends, family or colleagues and be part of a sleepover under the watchful eyes of the HAPPA horses and ponies. The charity hopes to be able to help more neglected horses and ponies this winter through the funds raised at this event.
Julie Pharaoh-Gan from HAPPA explains:
“We are looking for those people who are up for a bit of a challenge to raise sponsorship to sleepover in our outdoor space at the Farm. We will start off the evening with a bit of fun and entertainment and then its over to the brave participants to settle down for the night. Some of the HAPPA team are taking part too, I just wonder what our horses will think of it all!
All funds raised from the event will help the charity to continue to investigate cruelty and neglect and rescue horses and ponies. When rescue cases come to HAPPA we provide them with the very best of veterinary and farrier care, winter feed and winter rugs. We need funds to enable us to do this.”
Individuals or groups can sign up to the event, all participants must be aged over 18 to join. A registration fee of £25 applies, this covers the cost of a supper and light breakfast at the venue, you will also receive a special memento of the event. There are limited places available, so the Charity is encouraging participants to sign up early to avoid missing out.
Julie adds:
“We hope to get as many people involved as possible to help make this event great. Whether you want to do it alone or come as part of a group everyone is welcome.”
Participants will be given a full list of clothing and items they will need for the night, but no tents are allowed.
