“Consider Yourself”

Bursting with popular hits and brought to life by talented students on Burnley College Sixth Form Centre’s Performing Arts and Dance courses, Dickens’ classic story is coming to life on stage this month in Oliver! Jr.

This beloved musical is an adaptation of Lionel Bart’s Broadway original and contains all the songs the audience know and love.

See the streets of Victorian England come to life as Oliver, a malnourished orphan escapes his workhouse life and heads to London where he finds acceptance among a group of petty thieves and pickpockets led by the elderly Fagin.

A tale of betrayal, exploitation, love and brotherhood, this musical theatre masterpiece is a triumph of ensemble playing and allows our outstanding students the opportunity to shine on stage.

Performances will be held in their unrivalled, professional performance theatre on:

• Thursday 19 May, 7pm
• Friday 20 May, 7pm
• Saturday 21 May, 2pm and 7pm

Director of the production Ruth Davies, a Performing Arts Tutor at Burnley College, says:

“Our students are throwing themselves into rehearsals and are passionate about putting on a show to remember in 2022.

“Many are already accomplished actors and dancers, having appeared on the local stage, and are progressing to top universities and stage schools to further their stage and dance education before launching professional careers.

“In years to come, these students will be big names on the West End and on our TV screens; now’s your chance to see them live on stage in Burnley.”

Tickets for Oliver! Jr are available from www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/oliverjr-tickets-320516552637 and are £3 for children, and £6 for adults.
