Talented Burnley College Sixth Form Centre students to star in magical performance of ‘Cinderella’
Talented Performing Arts and Dance students at Burnley College Sixth Form Centre are finalising preparations for a magical Christmas production of ‘Cinderella’ which will enchant young and old alike next week.
Tickets for the show are selling fast, with just a handful remaining for public performances at 1-30pm and 7pm on Thursday and Friday, 2 and 3 December, in the College’s professional-standard performance theatre. The ‘Cinderella’ production being staged at the College’s popular Winter Wonderland event on 4 December are already sold out.
The rags to riches story of Cinderella, Prince Charming, Buttons and the Ugly Sisters, will be brought to life through a true team effort from ambitious students studying Vocational Performing Arts and Dance courses, alongside their industry-expert Tutors.
The audience will enjoy a wide variety of dance styles, including contemporary, tap, jazz, hip-hop and ballroom, alongside some stellar performances and vocals – not to mention lots of audience interaction. As well as taking centre stage, students are also heavily involved in backstage production, widening their knowledge of all aspects of theatre.
Performing Arts Tutor Russell Lane, who is also directing the family-friendly performance, said:
“This professional production of ‘Cinderella’ is giving students amazing insights into what a career in industry involves and they’re certainly rising to the challenge! It’s rewarding to see their skills and knowledge develop still further and their passion for performance and dance come to the fore.
“I’d encourage everyone coming to see the performance to make a note of the names of the students involved as I’m in no doubt that you’ll be seeing them again in future on television and on the West End stage.”
