A whole host of community fun is on the cards at Accrington and Rossendale College this Saturday and all free of charge!

The college, part of the Nelson and Colne College Group, is opening its doors as a ‘Fun Palace’ on Saturday, 2nd October, between 11am-2pm.

The event gives guests of all ages the opportunity to try out new roles, whether that be a scientist, an artist, a technology mastermind or a sports star…or all of them if you’d like!

Sarah Haworth, Head of Curriculum, for Lancashire Adult Learning, which is running the event, said:

“The Fun Palace gives local people a chance to get involved in an area they have a passion for, or would simply like to give a go.

“Throughout the day they’ll be a whole host of activities for everyone in the community, young or old, to get involved in, including science, technology and engineering challenges, sports activities and family arts and crafts.”

“For those interested in robotics we have activities which include building MILO the Space Rover and learning to code with Bit the Ozobot.

“While for anyone with an artistic streak, we have lessons in how to make floral decorations with our horticulture specialists, how to decorate your own clay-based decorations and mini-masterclasses in photography.

“And there is lots more going on, so we really do encourage people to come along and enjoy some free, yet educational fun!”

Those interested can enrol now here or simply go along on the day.
