Beever and Struthers, an award-winning firm of chartered accountants and business advisors in Manchester, Blackburn, Birmingham, and London have achieved the Planet Mark certification.
This is Beever and Struthers’ second year of business carbon footprint reporting and Planet Mark certification. Since providing data to Planet Mark, they have set a target to reduce their emissions by 5% annually.
Beever and Struthers’ total carbon footprint in the year ending December 2020 was 83.1 tCO2e, a reduction of 25.8% on the previous year. Beever and Struthers’ total carbon per employee in the year ending 2020 was 0.4 tCO2e, a reduction of 25.6%.
Beever and Struthers have also had their Social Value contribution measured by Planet Mark, this amounted to £42,609, in categories including: people, community and volunteering, donations, and environmental impacts.

Through Planet Mark, Beever and Struthers has helped protect an area of endangered rainforest inhabited by the Ashaninka Indigenous community through a collaboration with Cool Earth, a charity working alongside rainforest communities to halt deforestation.
Employees are central to Beever and Struthers achieving its sustainability goals. Their engagement, knowledge, skills, and influence will drive further change in the practice. Beever and Struthers is championing collective change by asking for 12 volunteers to visit the Eden project in the coming months. Beever and Struthers is also proud to be part of The Green Business Membership, a membership organisation helping to champion sustainable business in the North West of England.
Like all sectors, professional and financial advisors have a responsibility to tackle climate change. A 2021 survey from PwC showed 70% of CEOs are making greater commitments on climate change. This boardroom level shift towards climate action must be followed by their supply chains. Professional and financial advisors must be able to apply their expertise to sustainability if they are to remain competitive. Demonstrating a company’s own measures to reduce their environmental impact is an essential way to promote knowledge and authority on adapting to a low carbon future.
