Calling all companies… Are you up for the challenge of a lifetime?
Blackburn Youth Zone is calling on the community to work together to support young people’s Mental Health & Wellbeing. Launching their very first corporate challenge with 15 local businesses ready to raise funds to help Blackburn Youth Zone appoint a new targeted support worker; to help young people to overcome life’s challenges especially in a post-COVID world.
NHS rates suggest probable mental disorder in young people increased from one in nine in 2017 to one in six in 2020. highlighted significant impacts on young people’s mental health during the pandemic.
Hannah Allan – CEO of Blackburn Youth Zone said:
“More and more young people are reaching out for help… but not enough are getting support. When problems start, when things get too much, when young people pick up the courage to talk, they are then put on a waiting list. No young person should face a mental health problem alone.”
At Blackburn Youth Zone we want to give more young people the tools to help them deal with emotions and build resilience to overcome life’s difficulties. Paint the town is a great campaign that will allow us to raise awareness and funds to support more young people to feel happy, feel good about themselves, to be able to fight and not give up.
The campaign has been sponsored by proud patrons of Blackburn Youth Zone ‘Trevor Dawson’ meaning each business has received £50, their job is to make use of that money and turn it into as possible. On the final day of the campaign, BYZ are inviting the whole community to come together and ‘Paint the town orange’. Dig out your orange socks, pull out the orange hair spray and unite with your local charity and show young people they are not alone in their mental health.
“We are delighted to support a fantastic campaign; raising funds to support young people struggling with life’s difficulties. This campaign will provide young people with the tools to overcome life’s difficulties.”
Every pound you raise will go towards funding a dedicated Targeted Support worker. Helping local young people struggling with low level mental health get the best possible mental health support and have the resilience to overcome life’s difficulties.
