2020 marks 100 years since the gifting of Gatty Park and Elmfield Hall to the people of Church. To mark the centenary we are embarking on an exciting new project to celebrate the history of the park, Elmfield Hall and its importance in the local community. As an active member of the community and supporter of Community Solutions, we would like to ask for your support in engaging our community in the project.
‘Gatty’s Gift’ is a Lottery Heritage Fund project which aims to engage the community in local history and heritage and help them to develop new skills in arts, research, event planning and oral history. We’re currently looking for people in the Church and Hyndburn areas to be a part of the project, which will culminate in a community exhibition in 2021 at the Haworth Art Gallery and will be hosting a series of Virtual Coffee Mornings, via Zoom, in the next couple of weeks. I have attached a flyer with details and links to the Zoom meetings below, we would be delighted if you could join us for one of the calls to find out more about the project. If you wish to share these details with your constituents, friends, family members or colleagues it would be much appreciated.
We will also be hosting a socially distanced photo opportunity on Friday 10th July, at 10:30am (arrivals from 10:15am please) and would like to invite you to attend that too. We will be taking a drone photo of the park and hall from above, and will be asking members of the local community to attend and stand 2m distance apart for the photo. Facemasks / gloves are optional and can be kept on for the photograph as it will be a visual representation of 2020 and the times that we are in.
If you would like more information on any of the events please do get in touch. If you could confirm your attendance prior to the event it would be much appreciated.
