Chief Executive of regional law firm Napthens Shru Morris has sent a message to the region’s business leaders – hang on to your talent through these challenging times.

“don’t make the mistakes of the last recession”

As businesses start to introduce safety measures to ensure employees can return to work, she said: “These are tough times and there are challenges ahead – but don’t make the mistakes of the last recession when many businesses lost their key talent and didn’t develop other people.

“We are all working towards the road to recovery and many businesses will need their top talent when we emerge. The North West economy relies on retaining the people and skills it has worked so hard to develop, the key in helping us thrive in the new world.

“the most important element of any business is its people.”

“We have all learned to adapt and become more agile through this crisis but the most important element of any business is its people. We believe that retaining and developing good people will help business through these times ahead and beyond.”

In a video message looking at how the north west business economy can bounce back, she also pointed to the way Napthens has been able to provide a high-quality service to its clients through the Covid-19 crisis by responding quickly with the support of its expertise, new ways of working and the use of new communications channels.

She added: “Having learned how to adapt to this situation, we believe our people will be the difference. We have maintained relationships through the use of technology, working efficiently on behalf of our clients and ultimately giving them the support and responsiveness they need.

“Let’s use the lessons learned as we move forward to make sure the north west business community gets back to business with a sustainable model with its talented people on board. The working lives of many will change and the North West has lots to offer to attract new talent and business to the area.”
