Local entrepreneur Rachel Kay of Love Local Networking in East Lancashire has used her time on self-imposed furlough to help others, and to encourage the rest of us to do the same.
timetohelp is a new initiative to support community groups, charities, clubs and not-for-profits across the county. The website is completely free to use. It’s quick and simple for groups to add a page via the online form and include details of their group, location and what type of support they need (if applicable). Site visitors can browse all groups, or select by group type, by area or by opportunities to volunteer and fundraise.
“Charities, groups and organisations were desperate”
Rachel says, “It was incredible the way society rallied to become NHS volunteers at the end of March. A news item on it highlighted that many thousands of charities, groups and organisations were desperate for volunteers and also for funding, as the many fundraising events that would have taken place would not do for the foreseeable future.
“I wanted to support groups in Lancashire, help them find volunteers and fundraise, but also to make sure that communities knew where they could turn for support.”
Do take a look at the site and share with any groups or clubs you know about. Follow timetohelp.uk on Facebook too, please spread the word!
