East Lancashire based Tyreoo (Colne), JD Engineering (Colne) and the Cardboard Box Company (Clayton-le-Moors) have worked together to distribute 24 pallets of food, including eggs, milk and bread, to the local community.

The food was donated by West Yorkshire based charity, The Real Junk Food Project, following an introduction and discussion with Rachel Tomlinson, Headteacher of Barrowford Primary School. All three companies will now be making a donation to The Real Junk Food Project

The food was initially sent to the Colne Tyre Centre. From there, packages of food were distributed to Barrowford Primary School, Pendleside Hospice, East Lancashire Hospice and foodbanks in Colne and Pendle.

Commented Azhar Iqbal, MD, Tyreoo:

“In this time of need, we were delighted to work together as three local companies to help distribute these desperately required food parcels.

“It is just one of many examples of where local businesses are forsaking their own problems and helping their local community as a whole. We look forward to distributing more food parcels over the coming weeks.”
