Business women in East Lancashire have joined together to re-launch the networking group Unique, to develop business relationships and opportunities.
PM&M Chartered Accountants in Blackburn was bursting at the seams with over 50 women from across East Lancashire all keen to network and make new business contacts.
The event included a lot of business card swapping as well as a talk from motivational speaker Heather Wright from Advance as well as an ice breaker activity from Debra Brown of Global Hugs Coaching.
Run by East Lancashire Chamber of Commerce, Unique aims to link dynamic business women through a range of events, providing inspiration and motivation and an annual conference celebrating the business successes of women in the area.
Christine Lambe, from East Lancashire Chamber of Commerce said: “In its hay day Unique had over 400 members from a diverse mix of businesses and these women helped each other, which in these difficult and uncertain economic times is essential.”
The Unique network connects entrepreneurs from female owned businesses with women from leading Lancashire companies.
Diane Eatough from PM&M, the host of Unique’s first event in two years, said: “It is great to see so many women come together all so keen to do business. It’s one of the nice things about working in East Lancashire, everyone is very keen to work with fellow local companies and share contacts and experiences.”
Founder member and former Chair of Unique, Claire Gibson, managing director of recruitment firm Claire Gibson Associates Ltd, said: “This is a very exciting time for Unique. I have been involved since the group started six years ago and I am confident that now is a great time to resurrect it.
“We have Unique members that have been involved since day one and a good number of new members interested and that will allow us to continue to enhance the lives of women throughout the area with the provision of vibrant and successful networking opportunities.”
