Commenting on Tim Farron’s speech at the Liberal Democrat Party Conference, Dr Adam Marshall, Executive Director of Policy and External Affairs at the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) said:

“As Tim Farron works to rebuild his party, it is good to see that he is also looking at fixing the fundamentals for British business. His party’s commitments on investment in skills, innovation and infrastructure are all at the top of most businesses’ wish lists.

“On Europe, however, the Liberal Democrats may find themselves out of step with many in business who are hungry for reform and change. Business is not monolithic on the EU, and the Liberal Democrats – like other parties – must recognise that there is an important debate to be had about Britain’s future place in Europe.”
